End of School Year!

We're happy to announce Steve Schneiter as the new full time administrator for Northern Hills Christian Academy for the 2018 - 2019 School Year. The School Board voted on February 26 to offer Steve Schneiter a full time administrator contract. Steve signed his contract today making it official. This is a great move for the school! Mike Dye has been the Administrator on a part time basis for the last 5 years but as our school continues to grow the need for a full time administrator becomes more important. Mike is not interested in full time and will retire from NHCA at the end of this school year.

Steve brings administrative experience and expertise with him to the job as the new Administrator for 2018-2019. Steve Schneiter has been a professor at Virgina Tech before becoming the Administrator of Grace Christian Academy for 6 years. He has now moved to our area and is currently the manager of The Sleep Inn in Liberty MO. Steve is married and has three young children. During the reference checks there were two consistent themes that showed up. One was that he has a real passion for Jesus Christ and the spreading of the Gospel. The second was his overwhelming love for children and his desire to see them learn about Jesus. The School Board and Pastor Willoughby also found these two traits present when interviewing Steve. Another key trait for Steve is that he is very gregarious and you will find him very easy to talk to.

It has been fun to watch the growth of this Amazing School as God has blessed it with a wonderful staff and students. The future is bright and it is great to see the school taking the right steps toward excellence. Having a full time Administrator for next year is another of those needed steps to continue the growth process. Keep praying for God's will for the school so that we can serve him in the most effective manner. Also - remember to thank him for the blessing he continues to deliver for us.

Northern Hills Christian Academy is excited for the start of the 2017-2018 School Year.  We have the largest enrollment numbers of the past 5 years and it increases daily.  We have also added some fantastic teachers to our wonderful core group of teachers.  New this year to NHCA is Jeff Parks – Middle School bible and computers, Rhonda Shrimpton – reading specialist and Terri Walter – special education.  All three have several years of experience and each have a master’s degree.  Meghan Frick will also be joining us and she has an early childhood degree. Meghan had been a teacher at NHCA in the past but took a few years off to have her children.  We are glad to have her back as a staff member where she will be teaching our PreK students along with our current teacher Mindy Melynchuk.   It is exciting to see our already qualified and talented staff continues to grow with these exceptional people.

School will start on August 16.   Summer has flown by but it will be awesome to see our many returning families and several new families as well.  It is going to be a great school year! You can find school supply lists by clicking here.

NHCA 5K Fundraiser Event for 2016 – April 23

We are going to hold our first 5K event this year at Jesse James Park.   We have received a lot of sponsors throughout the community that are supporting our school and this event.  Please go to our web site and click on the 5K link.  There is a lot of great information about the actual event including these wonderful sponsors.   We also have the registration available at this site.  Parents please remember that we do have a discounted fee for our current families that are participating.  Please check with Cheryl or Alexa for this handwritten form.   We are hoping to have a big turnout for this wonderful event.  Please invite your friends to come join us – we have postcards with information about this event.

1000 Club – Christians Supporting Christians

This is a new program that we are starting to see if we can get Christian community support for our families choosing to educate their children in a Christian school.  We are looking for those that will link arms with our school by providing $10 a month or $120 per year.  If we can find 1000 people in our community (Kearney, Liberty, Lawson, Lathrop…) to join us by supporting our local community Christian school – it would make a huge difference for these families and our school.  We have brochures available that shares about this new program and gives some key information.  We also have this available on our web site  .

Devastating News:  We lost a special parent on January 6 - Theresa Howell - in a fatal car accident. Her two daughters that attend NHCA received minor injuries and were released after a few days in the hospital.  Services for Theresa were conducted in Springfield on January 11.  Any one interested in assisting David and the girls financially are welcome to send donations to Crescent Lake Church in Excelsior  Springs and in the memo mark Howell Family.  Our prays and thoughts continue to be poured out to this wonderful family.

Girls Basketball Season:  Our elementary girls team have only lost one game this season and should enter the tournament at the end of this month ranked in first or second place.  The ladies continue to get better as the season progresses.   The end of the season tournament will be at Blue Ridge and will take place January 28-30.

Kansas City Zoo Mobile:  We will have a presentation from the KC Zoo on Tuesday, January 26. It is always interesting to see what animals they bring to visit our students.

The Dad's Involvement Program:  We have kicked off the beginning of our Dad's Involvement program this month.  Aaron Murphy was our first Dad to spend the day with us helping a variety of students throughout the day.  We are fortunate to have a lot of Dads that have signed up and will have a Dad here at school to assist us for the next several months.

School of Choice Week:  January 24 - 30 is national School of Choice Week.  It is designed to draw awareness that parents have a lot of choices when figuring out the best school for their child.  We will participate in a some of the activities during that week.
